I. Answer the following questions in brief:

Ans 1 - In the water cycle, evaporation occurs when sunlight warms the surface of the water.

Ans 2 - In the sunlight, because the temperature in the sunny area is higher than the shade and evaporation takes place at a faster rate at high temperature.

Ans 3 - Plant lose gallons of water every day through the process of transpiration.

Ans 4 - The basic idea behind rainwater harvesting is to catch water where it falls on the Earth's surface.

Ans 5 - Most of our groundwater come from rainfall. 

Ans 6 - Pumping water out of the ground faster than it is replenished over the long - term causes similar problem  Groundwater depletion is caused by sustained groundwater pumping.

Ans 7 - Rainwater harvesting involves the process of diverting rainwater from surfaces to tanks or into the ground, for use at a later stage. By using harvesting rainwater, housing complex and individual households can reduce their dependence on municipal water supply.
